Privatbesitz und die persönliche Kultur im Umweltschutz
My theoretical work is concerned with the question to what extent the ownership of a property influences its protection. To this end, I have compared three nature reserves in Paraguay with different ownership structures and the motivations for their establishment. Ownership, and therefore also property, are considered cornerstones of human development and are consequently closely associated with the cultural identity of the individual. A personal attachment to land is ultimately what fosters care and what strengthens the relationship between the individual and a given environment.
UMWELTSCHUTZ
The practical and theoretical sides to my Diplom work are closely linked. Within the context of a particular interest in environmental protection, I reflected on my family’s project, which is the establishment of a nature reserve in Paraguay. My personal experiences, interests, and ties in this second home play a prominent role in this regard. As though in an early scientific cabinet of curiosities, my subjective feelings about the difficulties of realising the project encounter a biological-geographical study of the flora and fauna of the various biospheres. The project increasingly became an open collection of preserved specimens, prints and drawings, professional discussion, and a selection of medicinal plants of the Guaraní.
