Konsum – Dingkult und Selbstkuration in der Gegenwart
The work comments on the individual terror of demarcation in an alienated society in which class is formed through supposed individuality. The environment is aestheticised and curated. Purposeful selfcare is consumed and individual autonomy idealised. In the milieu of the studied, creative and well-read, there is a conceit towards Guilty Pleasures, although in said scene there is no less flaunting. In the end, it’s also about the big things that really matter to most people and nothing to be ashamed of: love, sex, money + GOD (object, things).
Hi Hater. Bye Hater. I wasn’t born a designer. Design choose me.
What if
WHAT IF is an editorial campaign for dysfunctional and aestheticised ironing boards. An everyday object is staged as a musthave. The staging breaks with the understanding of the role and its function as well as the associated image of the ironing housewife. The apparent non-functionality of the object cries out for the neo-liberal lifestyle in which production continues and which assigns enormous value to the staging. It is easy to adorn oneself with these attributes, because understatement is cool to the maximum. What if we work together is an ode to cooperation.
