Bahnhöfe verstehen
The railway connects us all. In Germany, the railway not only links the countryside with the city and sustainability with mobility, but it also connects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. It represents an opportunity for communication. Passenger stations quickly gained social relevance. They became the manifestation of a new urban culture. Over time, they evolved into portals to the city and into a kind of cold welcome. A close look at the design indicates that the senders, recipients, and expression of this gesture changed in the years before and after the war, and they have continued to do so with the privatisation of the railway.
_ am Stellwerk
The project found its feet as a result of three occurrences: having the city of Offenbach as the client, being awarded €20,000 for the Großer Frankfurter Bogen Future Prize, and the public relations requirements that the city of Offenbach had for the future construction of a project on the brownfield site at the Stellwerk in Offenbach. It was in this constellation that my Diplom project at the Stellwerk was involved. In particular, it related to the design, planning, and implementation of the spatial and programmatic interim use of the construction site for two weekends in the summer of 2022. The spatial design strategy consisted of filling the silhouettes of a living room with the materials of a construction site. For instance, carpets were made from marking paint, tables from cable drums, sofas from sandbags, and daily newspapers with architectural competitions.
